Summary

Unexpected problems can surface during home repairs. On this project, we uncovered significant rot in the roof decking that was hidden beneath the shingles, making replacement necessary to prevent further damage.

The Work

Removed shingles to inspect for underlying issues around the chimney
Identified and cut out all sections of decking affected by rot
Installed new decking to restore a solid foundation
Sealed all new flashing and re-shingled the area for lasting protection

The Outcome

The roof now has a sturdy, rot-free base, and the area around the chimney is protected from future leaks. The homeowner can feel confident that hidden damage won't cause problems later on.
